Designer Tips & Tactics
Drapery workroom owner, Paula Fioretti takes us inside her client’s Lake Forest, Illinois home to show how it was birthed to life using thoughtful design tactics. The room quickly evolved by adding a black four-poster bed, night stands, artwork, crisp white linens and white drapery panels.

THE RIPPLE EFFECT
There are many ways to pleat draperies – French, Boxed, Inverted, Goblet, Pencil, Ripplefold, Ruffled, Tabbed, Inset, Cartridge, Smocked and Slouched – the most contemporary and tailored drapery style is Ripplefold. As seen above, Rachel Winham’s beautiful ripplefold drapery design features a soft wave pattern with perfectly-spaced folds commonly used in residential and commercial installations.
LUCITE AND GOLD
Silver and chrome have been the favored metals of choice, but we’re seeing a shift. Something new is on the scene. Metals are moving towards warmer hues… and GOLD IS BACK! It’s exploding everywhere. The shade is brushed and brassy. Incorporating this look is a design phenomenon that we’re absolutely loving which combines gold metal with clear Lucite. This brilliant duo is everything. It’s glamorous, modern, light and airy. Quite frankly, we’re obsessed!!!
